U11’S Crowned North London Netball Champions

On Friday 24th March, St. John's held the final North London Independent Schools Netball Tournament for the U11's. We entered the U11 A team, and also a B team which consisted of the F2's; this offered the girls a fantastic opportunity to not only play against a variety of different schools, but to also prepare them for the level of competition they will face next year.  So well done to the following F2 players for inspirational performances: Amina, Ayomide, Natasha, Maya, Chloe, Taya, Fadeke and Katelyn.

The U11 A team faced tough competition playing against the very strong and experienced team from Vita et Pax; a formidable opposition. The pressure initially, affected the girls’ performance, but St. John’s defence managed to keep possession of the ball. After a very close game, the girls managed to pull ahead in the last couple of nail biting minutes, winning 3-2. An excellent achievement!

After two more wins against St. John's B team and Vita et Pax's B team, it was all down to the final match against last year’s champions, St. Aubyns. Initially the game got off to a shaky start, with the opposition scoring the first goal. The girls then pulled through together, with some phenomenal interceptions from the defence: Nwamaka, Demi, and Nehir.  Marlie and Selin who drove the ball down the court effortlessly. This was finished with excellent goals from Olivia, Isabelle and Georgie. The final score was 4-2 to St. John's, meaning the U11 A team could soon claim victory, to the title of North London Independent School champions!

Well done to all the teams that took part. We saw some excellent netball and we are excited to see how they continue their winning streak into the Senior School. All of their hard work and commitment has paid off and we are proud of each and every player.
