St. John’s U13s Aegon Tennis Competition

St. John’s 1st and 2nd form girls tennis team competed in the U13s Aegon Tennis Competition last week.

The match, on 9th May at St. John’s Senior School was played against Monks Walk School. St. John’s won 7 rubbers to 6 overall – but it was close!

At 6 rubbers each, Selin Poyraz and Esma Wyatt competed in a doubles championship tiebreak winning 10 points to 7. Match point was won by a superb forehand winner by Esma to take St. John's to a beautiful victory.

Selin and Esma won their singles matches and Nehir Cevik and Esma won their doubles match, showing excellent play at the net finishing the point off effectively with their volleys and working exceptionally well as a team.

Marlie Witter displayed some brilliant phases of aggressive play in her singles match, with the longest rallies in all the matches.
