St. John’s U12s went to Priory Academy for the first round of the National Cup yesterday. The game started tensely and no chances for about 10 minutes. Then Ethan Nwaneri made a solo run which resulted in an excellent save from their goalkeeper. Then another run was rewarded by a penalty which again was saved by the keeper. Half time and 0:0. Very evenly matched game. Priory had a chance early on and a brilliant save from Soraiz Mois kept out a great shot. This woke us up a little and Ethan ran through the whole defence and placed the ball in the top corner 1:0 St. John’s. For 20 mins we defended the lead with more good saves and hard work from all the team. Great first game and I am very proud of the boys - Mr Hodgson.
